Stanford & Volkswagen's Self-Driving Car 'Shelley' Runs On RaceTrack At 120mph!

It was only in August that we told you about #-Link-Snipped-# without an accident. And here we have Stanford University's Dynamic Design Lab pairing up with Volkswagen’s Electronics Research Lab to bring Audi TTS driverless car performing its best at 120 mph on the racetrack. Nicknamed 'Shelly', this Audi TTS has managed to cover the 3-mile race course track in just 2.30 minutes, a record that can put a good professional driver to shame. The mechanical engineers who have worked on this self-driving car have tested the car for efficiency with features like when to brake or how tight to take turns.

With the fastest route compute algorithm in place, Shelley follows that path with the best possible precision. By studying closely the race-car professionals, these engineers will keep improving this car's performance. We could even possibly have a car that will help an inexperienced driver find the way out of a bad weather. Check out the video -
