Spice Up Your Resume With Seelio, Get Your Dream Job

Moses Lee, a serial entrepreneur at the University of Michigan’s Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship has developed a social network to alleviate the process of applying for jobs for students. The website's aim is to match the students interest with the job profile, and allows the students to add a zest to their resumes with graphic designs, computer-aided projects, videos, and academic papers. Anybody with a .edu address can join the beta version of Seelio.

Lee's principal motivation to build the site came after hearing students complain about the limited scope of the old, traditional resume. Lee aimed to provide a platform where each student could distinguish themselves from the crowd and connect with students who have similar interest. Potential employers can reach out directly using a private messaging service.

Students have a chance of portraying their skills outside of job experience, such as the independent projects, which are more likely to impress an employer than a part-time job experience at a local company. Registered companies on the site can also create their own multimedia platform to attract potential talent.

Though Seelio is not the first. AfterCollege serves a similar purpose and is targeted mainly at seniors and recent grads looking for entry-level positions and internships. But Lee believes Seelio is different, as it’s exclusively focused on college students. Seelio is still in its development phase and intends to rope in more universities, including Northwestern and the University of Illinois.
