After many leaks and teasers online Samsung has finally made its flagship Galaxy S8 Active official. Designed around a metal frame with an improved, rugged structure, the device is shock-, shatter-, water-, and dust-resistant (IP68 certified). Constructed with military-grade materials for the utmost durability the metal frame features a bumper case to prevent major damage even from the drop of up to 5 feet. It’s also water resistant in five feet for up to 30 minutes.

The back cover has a rugged, tough texture for a secure grip. Coming to the specifications, Samsung Galaxy S8 Active sports a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display (2560 × 1440 pixels) with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Samsung has let go of #-Link-Snipped-#, the Infinity Display, in order to make the Active sufficiently rugged. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU the handset is coupled with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB of memory storage (UFS 2.1) which is further expandable via a microSD card (upto 256 GB). It runs on Android 7 Nougat with TouchWiz U.I on top.

The camera features include a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, OIS, 1.4µm pixel size. On the front, it houses an 8-megapixel auto focus snapper with f/1.7 aperture, 1/3.6″ sensor size and 80-degree wide-angle lens for an enhanced selfie experience along with video chats. The phone featuring a Bixby assistant, comes with a whopping 4,000mAh battery capacity packing fast charging support on board. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth v 5.0, GPS with GLONASS, USB 3.1, and NFC.

Samsung Galaxy 8 Active would be offered in twin colored variants of Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold. The device would retail exclusively via AT&T carrier starting August 11 and would be available for pre-orders starting today-August 8th. It is priced at $850 (Rs. 54255 approx.) and will be available via the AT&T Next Plan as well costing $28.34 per month for 30 months.
