We've just received a wireless range extender for official review (coming soon!) and it says ...with AC Passthrough. At first, I thought the range extender would support IEEE 802.11ac spec; but then the product specifications didn't mention anything about it.

It turns out that 'AC Passthrough' basically refers to the router having a special socket that lets you fit in a regular AC adapter directly on to the device. Typically, the range extenders sit directly on the power outlet and hence blocking them. The extender with AC Passthrough will allow you to hook your regular AC adapter to the socket - and hence the name 'AC Passthrough'. It's got nothing to do with the 'ac' Wi-Fi.

I'll explain this with pictures in my review.

Yep, thats quite standard especially for HomePlugs (devices that network over your home electrical wiring).
Are you sure? This action cannot be undone.
