Not only here but in different forums I find this really awesome requests

What is the role of ****** configuration amplifiers ?

So here is a list of amplifiers I know and I will add more along with help from fellow CEans here

BJT amplifier configurations

CE config
  • most common
  • Used as a Voltage amplifier
  • 180 degree phase shift is the only draw back
CC configuration
  • Commonly called Emitter follower
  • Mostly used as last stage in multi stage amplifiers
  • Current amplification is prime role
  • Voltage gain is almost unity (depends on Impedances attached )
CB configuration
  • least common mode for students
  • Voltage amplifier
  • No phase shift in op

These are the basic configurations available Using BJT but due to several factors like
    • Increasing the Input impedance
    • Increasing output admittance
    • More gain BW product
Several modifications are brought in this design in the form of
    • Darlington
    • Boot strapped model
Several combinations are also used to couple the outputs some common coupling methods are
    • Direct
    • RR coupling
    • RC coupling
    • transformer coupling
    • L coupling
    • RL coupling
Based on the need the configurations are used with precise biasing for maximum efficiency of the amplifier
