Reliance Retail Launches 4G LYF Earth And Water Smartphones Via Grofers
When Reliance announced its <a href="https://www.crazyengineers.com/threads/reliance-lyf-4g-lte-smartphones-to-ensure-rapid-4g-penetration-in-india.84579">Reliance LYF 4G LTE Smartphones To Ensure Rapid 4G Penetration In India</a> project, it was thought that Reliance Stores throughout the country would first serve it. But with the increased online shopping and convenience of door delivery, it seems logical that Reliance launched the 4G-ready smartphones on Grofers, in addition to Reliance Digital Stores. It is available for ordering in select cities in which Grofers operates.
In 13 metropolitan cities including Delhi, NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Luknow, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Kanpur, Reliance has launched its LYF series of smartphones. The three smartphones in this category are LYF Earth 1, LYF Water 1 and LYF Water 2, all of which are dual-sim compatible.
The smartphones however, are premium, and Water series costs Rs.14690 and Rs.14990, while the Earth series costs Rs.23990 (currently on discount). The Earth series boasts of a 5.5 inch Full HD AMOLED screen, rear glass finish, 3GB RAM and a battery of capacity 3500 mAh. Both the series have dual cameras, the rear being a 13MP one and 1.5 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Processors. Internal memory on the Earth and Water are 32GB and 16GB respectively, but both are expandable up to another 32GB. Both the Reliance LYF series run Android Lollipop.
Though Reliance has launched 4G ready smartphones before their 4G network service, they might pose a threat to other network service providers with their industry-lowest prices. Reliance Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, will launch its 4G network services by April 2016, which might cast a shadow on other networks depending on how affordable Reliance prices it.
