Prevent Car-Theft Using Your Bum - Unique Car Seat From Tokyo Researchers

Not many have done research about how technology can be used to prevent car-thefts. Hence, we have some news from Japanese researchers based in Advanced Institute of Technology in Tokyo. They have developed a unique car-seat that identifies the owner of a car.  This car seat has 360 sensors in-built to measure the pressure applied by a person's sitting posture. These sensors in turn generate a 3D representation of the weight distribution across the seat. This information is sent to a computer, which analyzes the data and identifies the driver. The developers say that the accuracy with which the drivers/owners of the car are identified is about 98%.

Take a look at how you sit on this car-seat:

They believe its an effective anti-car-theft system and can be made viable. The engineers will work together with leading car companies to commercialize the technology in two to three years. A quick question would arise, "What will happen if the driver loses or gains weight?"  or "Can't a thief copy my exact sitting posture?" Well, only the research team has answers for such questions.
