Performance evaluation of loop and ladder layout using flexsim

Project Abstract / Summary : OVERALL CONCEPT:

With increasing production costs and constraints, manufacturers desire to minimize maintenance cost and product transport time.

The objective of our project is to evaluate the performance of loop and ladder layouts for a considered bench mark problem and thus come out with the best layout. We are using FLEXSIM software for our work. Our work consists of the description of “effect of layouts on the maintenance and utilisation”. FMS is a very promising technology as they provide flexibility, which is essential for many manufacturing companies.

We have to construct the loop and the ladder layouts using FLEXSIM and find the total processing time, efficiency of the layout for the following values of the times on each machine:

ORIGIN OF IDEA:

We have got to know that some of the industries fail to complete the work within the stipulated amount of time because of their poor layouts. This gave us the idea of comparison of different layouts using software so that the best one may be implemented in the industries.

IMPACT OF THE PROJECT:

Our project can have significant amount of impact on industries or on the hospitals, because time is very precious in case of the manufacturing or in case of hospitals. The time consumption can be drastically reduced with the help of the optimised layout planning.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : This is the latest trending topic and it is of high value in the industries for its development.This made us work on this topic. In the future , layouts may be still optimised with the help of the flexsim software.

Project Highlights : Every industry mainly focuses on the product to maximise the profits, but by also focussing on the way the product is manufactured and trying to optimise the layout of the manufacturing plant will be of great worth. Very few people see the world from another perspective and we are one of that kind, so we deserve to win.
