Nokia N9 Firmware 1.3 Released, Fixes Almost 1,000 Bugs
Symbian might be dead and while Lumia serves to be Nokia's savior for the immediate future, Nokia has taken the effort to update its N9 firmware. This is the third major update for MeeGo and N9, which is the only phone running on this OS. MeeGo is a Linux-based open source mobile OS which was eventually cancelled in September 2011.

The new firmware update comes with almost 1000 improvement and bug fixes, focusing on mail, Facebook, Twitter, minor network and connectivity improvements, Nokia Store, Nokia Music, Link, Maps, Drive and AccuWeather. It is a pleasant surprise that Nokia has delivered updates to the N9 device since it has switched to Windows OS and is busy with the development of Lumia series phones.
This move might also be in light of the recent announcement by Nokia's board chairperson Risto Siilasmaa who affirmed that Nokia has alternate plans if Windows OS fails to succeed in the market. Nokia N9 sales reached between 1.5 and 2 million devices sold in the last quarter of 2011, beating the sales of all Lumia devices (0.6 million) by a huge margin. It is clear that Nokia is not putting all its bets on the Windows OS, but it still needs to deliver a success to obviate the impending doom. In such a scenario, is MeeGo the way to go?
