Nissan LEAF To Be Launched By End Of 2011
Electric cars are considered most efficient today. They offer a very good service along with energy efficiency they provide is truly remarkable. Electric cars are all set to replace the existing gasoline fed automobiles in near future. As the fuel used by them is not gasoline or diesel, they are actually a boon to environment. In other words, these cars are cheap on fuel and high on service. Nissan LEAF is one of them.

Nissan fans can soon buy the most efficient electric car. It is called Nissan LEAF. It was named as ‘Domain car of 2011’. Nissan leaf is equipped with lithium ion batteries, making it a green car. LEAF can attain a speed of 145KmPH with a battery power of 90 kW. It has got a battery pack of 24 kWh. However the electric motor can deliver 107HP.
This is not only limited to speed, how can we neglect the greatest advantage that any electric car has? Yes, I am talking about charging. With this, you do not need to go to any gasoline station. You can save your precious time. At the time of purchase an optional battery charging unit will be recommended. It is provided and built by AeroVonment. We can as easy as hang it on a wall of garage and let it charge while you are busy in your chores.
What more do we want? To tell you good news, Leaf has recently got top ratings in safety concerns by ‘Insurance institute for highway safety’. This is because this car is heavy, around 3370 pounds. So in case, passengers suffer a crash, then there would not be much impact on it due to its weight, it would not get pushed too far off from its track. It still weighs low as compared to Chevrolet Volt. In this test it was also found that with battery once charged, LEAF can travel an amazing 100 miles!
Another LEAF version NISMO RC is considered for racing. During tests, for 20 min racing, NISMO could reach up to a speed of 150 KmPH (93 miles per hour) while producing an acceleration of 0-62mph in 6.85 seconds.  Nissan is also said to be taking racing seriously. Carlos Tavares, chairman, Nissan Americas said, “The Nissan LEAF NISMO RC will serve as a rolling laboratory for the accelerated development of EV and aerodynamic systems, as well as a platform for the development of new green motorsports series.†[As Quoted by #-Link-Snipped-#]
LEAF is the first electric vehicle launched by Nissan. It is not a complete new invention but it is actually innovation. The Japanese with their principle ‘Kaizen’ wants to keep on improving continuously. LEAF is one of the results of it.
