Mozilla - Google Search Agreement Renewed For 3 Years
Ever wondered how Mozilla is able to deliver a world class web browser without charging even a buck for it? Thanks to the Google & Mozilla search deal that lets Mozilla a share of the revenues Google makes when Mozilla users search the web through Firefox. Overall, the whole thing works as follows: Mozilla sets Google as the default search engine in Firefox builds. When users use the Firefox search box to perform searches, Google displays the search results. If the users click on advertisements on these search pages, then Google shares a part of the revenues it makes from the advertisers with Mozilla. Firefox continues to remain the favorite browser of millions of tech-savvy Internet users and makes about 80% of its revenues through Google.![[IMG]](proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.crazyengineers.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2011%2F12%2FGoogle-Mozilla-Deal-Agreement.jpg&hash=7856345053cf3a5c6d5de76f08c99dc9)
The new agreement extends the Mozilla-Google partnership by three years. It's important to note that Google has it's own '#-Link-Snipped-#' browser and you might wonder why'd they fund their rivals. The answer is Microsoft. If Google doesn't fund Mozilla then Microsoft which competes with Google search through Bing search would definitely aid Mozilla; and Google wants to avoid that at any cost. The intense browser war between Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer & Opera continues to benefit the end users. Long live competitive markets.
In the mean time, geeks have leaked the latest stable version of the Firefox 9 before its official release. The new FF9 makes Internet experience faster and has several JavaScript enhancements. #-Link-Snipped-#!
