Microsoft's Nokia 216 - Essence of the Past, Features of the Present

Microsoft, today, has enlisted in its official website about the phone - Nokia 216. The device comes with a keypad and a small display screen. The phone doesn’t have any touch screen and hosts a low memory specification. So, what’s new about this device? This device gives a flashback of the past but is built with the technologies of the present. Not only its look but its simplicity makes it a showstopper.

As mentioned earlier, the phone isn’t a smartphone. It is like an ordinary mobile phone but with new design and impressive look. It has a small form-factor and a dimension of 118 x 50.2 x 13.5 mm and weighs as light as 82.6 gm. It has a screen size of 2.4 inch with a resolution and pixel density of 320 x 240 and 167 ppi respectively. It is available in three colour variants namely cyan, white and black, of which, the cyan looks the best.

It has both primary and secondary camera of 0.3 MP respectively with a digital zoom of 2x. Both the camera is of the type VGA and is provided to capture good quality images, videos and selfies. It has a replaceable battery of capacity 1020mAh which gives this device a maximum standby time of up to 24 days! It hosts a mini SIM with 2.5 G connectivity and features web browsers like Opera to provide internet access. It also has a dual SIM variant available. Facebook, Twitter applications are also present with an additional one from the Gameloft, especially for gaming. It has a low RAM of 16 MB but supports expandable memory of up to 32 GB Micro SD. The phone has FM, LED torchlight, MP3, video player and supports Bluetooth 3.0 and Bluetooth stereo headsets.


Yes, it’s true, the device has no features like a smartphone but is suitable for people who still uses old outdated keypad phones. The long standby time and its impressive design gives this device a definite edge. Within a price of Rs 2495, this phone will definitely catch the attention of our elder generation and people who still loves the keypad device with long battery life.
