microcontroller for RO system

I want to create 1000s of delay for my application in RO water system. which microcontroller should I used and can anyone suggest any algorithm for the same?

    Why a micro controller? Why not a regular time delay circuit?

    You can use any of this regular Arduino boards like Nano, Uno, etc. And if it is just delay then as #-Link-Snipped-# Sir said go with regular timer delay circuit, you can make one using 555 timer IC.
