Med Sensation Electronic Glove Detects Medical Abnormalities Within Human Body

A robotic hand that can sense medical abnormalities within your body is designed by two engineers - Elishai Ezra and Fransiska Hadiwidjana and a Harvard Medical School student - Andrew Bishara. The robotic glove, called 'Med Sensation' is capable of detecting sounds, vibrations and temperature with the help of its onboard sensors. The sensors include a buzzer system that sends alarm in case of an emergency. For instance, if excessive pressure is applied on the examined tissue, the examiner is alarmed. The medical glove allows to detect enlarged internal organs such as an enlarged kidney or a liver. The results can then be wirelessly transmitted to an external device.

Developers are looking forward to add micro-ultrasound feature at this glove's fingertips. The improvement would enable increase in the detection abilities of the glove by enabling assessment of abdominal pain and heart abnormalities. The glove is made with a view to improve the doctor's examination skills, but will soon be developed with a common man's perspective so that detecting diseases on our own is made possible.
