What is Music???
According to Merriam-Webster..Music is the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity

The first thing that we must learn in music is Musical Notation.
*Staff
It consist of 5 lines with four spaces between them

*Clefs
There are two kinds of clefs..the G clef/treble clef and F clef/bass clef

It is called G clef because it curls on the G line.

Above image is a treble staff. The staff begins with first line E and ends line F. In order to remember the notes on treble clef mnemonic devices are used,example on notes on lines: Good Boys Does Fine while on space: FACE

It is called F clef because it curls on the F clef.

Above image is a bass staff. The staff begins with first line G and end with G also. To remember the notes on bass staff mnemonic is used, example in line:Good Boys Don't Fight Anyone while on space: All Cows Eat Grass

*The Grand Staff
Grand staff is formed by connecting and combining the treble and bass clef by brace( left) and lines.
See image below:

*Measure
It marks the staff by vertical lines. Time signature determines how many beats can be in a measure.

* Notes
The notes found on staff are C-do,D-re, E-mi, F-fa,G-so,A-la,AND B-ti, then repeat again with C-do. Notes on lower staff have lower pitch.

*Ledger lines
This are lines extended below or above the staff.These lines follow the same musical alphabet pattern as the staff does.

*Note Duration
It is the length of time that a note is played which is determined by the type of note.

-Two Half notes equals one Whole note
- Four Quarter notes equals one Whole note.
-Two Quarter notes equals one Half note
-Two Eighth note equals one Quarter note
-Two Sixteenth note equals one Eighth note

*Rests
Rests are places where the musician does not play. It have equivalent values to corresponding notes of duration.

*Ties and Slurs
They connect two or more notes. Ties connect notes of the same pitch(left). Slurs connect notes of different pitch.

*Accidentals
To increase or decrease the pitch of notes accidentals are used. Accidentals in the very beginning of the music sheet are key signatures.Accidentals stay in effect for all notes of the same pitch for the rest of the measure.
Sharps (right side of picture) raise the pitch of the note by one half step.
Flats (left side of the picture) lower the

*Time Signatures

It tells how many beats per measure and what note gets the beat. The top number determines how many beats in a measure while the bottom number tells what kind of note gets the beat.
EX: 4/4-----4 beats per measure and the quarter note gets the beat.
3/4------3 beats per measure and still the quarter note gets the beat
