Interface RF module with Arduino using 'VirtualWire' library or directly?

Hi friends, i am doing a gesture controlled robot, which moves based on our hand gestures. I am using an accelerometer, Arduino board and RF module. Interfacing RF module with Arduino results in unexplained and weird errors such as, random signals received at the receiver etc...,
Could anyone please suggest me ideas, using which i can interface RF module with Arduino either using 'VirtualWire' library or directly???
