Ever since Intel showed a demonstration of an all-in-one PC and keyboard with wireless charging facility and a prototype of wireless charging kit running on an Acer laptop to charge Samsung smartphone, speculations have been made on how Intel plans to use this feature in their devices. Rumors emerging from Taiwan suggest that Intel is now working to include wireless charging in its Ultrabooks - a service which would be launching in second half of 2013. This wireless charging will be made possible by the utilizing the power of your ultrabook to charge a smartphone. Intel further suggests that the phone need not be put in specific position for charging as the conventional wireless charging requires the device to be in a specific orientation.

Wireless charging is made possible when two coils of wire tuned at the same resonant frequency are placed near each other and when current is passed through one coil the oscillating magnetic field generated by it creates electric field in the other coil. The method of wireless charging has been used to charge pacemakers and RFID chips. The main concern of Intel is to make the wireless charging efficient and cheap. Samsung was also supposed to launch a wireless charger for smartphones in June but it is taking time to perfect its technology it seems.
