Infosys Nagpur Development Center To Begin Operations In Next 3 Years

India's second biggest software exporter Infosys (NASDAQ: INFY) has signed an MoU with the Government Of Maharashtra & MADC (Maharashtra Airport Development Authority) to setup a development center in the city of Nagpur. Infosys Nagpur will be Infy's second development center in Maharashtra, after Pune. MADC promises to offer 142 acres of land at the ambitious MIHAN project in Nagpur. The total investment Infosys plans to make is around Rs. 100 crores.

The Infosys Nagpur Development Center is expected to create about 2000 engineering jobs in Nagpur over a period of 5 years once it begins operations. However the long term plan includes creation of over 14000 IT jobs with a total investment of Rs. 412 crores. Infosys operates over 64 offices globally and is home to over 145000 engineers.

We're excited to hear the news of Infosys planning to setup its development center at Nagpur. This move by the IT giant will enable central India retain the engineering & IT talent. India's #1 software exporter, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has already in the process of establishing a BPO & development center in the city.
