Infosys Joining Dates Delayed For Campus Recruits Till July 2013

Infosys has delayed the joining dates of over 28 thousand engineering graduates recruited through campus placements during August-September 2011. Some of them have received joining letters dated as late as July 2013, leaving the aspirants utterly sad. It is also in news that Infosys has temporarily frozen salaries of about 1.5 lakh of its staff and cut variable pay. For a company that is a leader in the IT industry and the one to be foraying into software products and business platforms, delaying joining dates is a sign of struggle to match industry growth rates.

If we dig deeper and look at the reasons behind this, we are not sure if this is a result of slowdown in growth. Some say that the order pipeline is not very strong, but since the campus recruits are taken in batches over a long period, the delay is only natural. Another strong reason for this state of affairs is that the employees are on 'the bench' i.e. the existing employees are without work due to lack of new projects.

However, other Indian IT industry giants like Wipro, HCL Technologies and Cognizant Technology Solutions are said to be experiencing no major delay in their onboarding schedule. We would like to read from the engineering graduates placed in these companies about their views regarding their joining schedules. Share your thoughts in the comments.
