IIT JEE Advance Test Pattern: Multiple Choice Questions Only

Worried about the test pattern of the new IIT JEE to be conducted in 2013? Worry no more! The HRD ministry has clarified that the IIT JEE Advance test pattern will be same as that of the traditional JEE being carried out over the last few years - with multiple choice questions only. The Human Resources Development ministry issued the JEE 2013 notification on August 14. The JEE-Advance will determine the final admission to the finest engineering institutes in India. The JEE-Adance will only have multiple choice questions and students will attempt it in two sessions first in the morning and second in afternoon. [IMG]

We hope that this update will bring smiles to the JEE aspirants all over the country. We learn that several IITs, including IIT-Bombay were in favor of subjective test. The difficulty level of the JEE-Advance will be similar to that of the JEE being conducted over the past few years. Senior officials at IIT-B believed that it's already late to introduce a new pattern and therefore, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to go with the regular test format. The JAB is headed by former director of IIT Bombay, Mr. Ashok Misra. However, it's not clear whether the same format will be followed for JEE 2014; the test pattern may change in future.

According to the notification, over 150,000 top performers from the JEE-Main exam will be allowed to appear for the JEE-Advance. The students who appear in the top 20 percentile of the JEE-Advance will be considered for admission to the IITs. The states that want to admit students on the basis of the JEE-Advance result, will be given a separate merit list.

We want to ask all JEE aspirants their opinion on this update. What do you think about JAB's decision to go ahead with the regular test pattern for the JEE 2013?
