IEEE 802.3 To Offer Up To 1 Tbps Ethernet Speeds! Wow!

When it comes to data transfers over the networks, the wires beat the air hands down. While the Wi-Fi group is marching slowly towards the 1Gbps mark, IEEE has formed IEEE 802.3™ Industry Connections Higher Speed Ethernet Consensus group to build consensus around the next speeds over the Ethernet. The launch of the group follows publication of IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Bandwidth Assessment report which predicts that with the current rate of growth in bandwidth, our networks will support up to 1 Tbps by 2015 and 10 Tbps by 2020. According to a research, the core networking usage doubles every 18 months. The biggest challenge in attaining never-before bandwidths over wires is going to be financial.
