HTC One M8 Goes Official - All You Need To Know
The rumours and leaks of the HTC’s new flagship – HTC One (M8) have been quite a hot topic of discussion these days. Giving rest to the rumors, the company has now finally revealed all the specs and features. HTC had impressed everyone with the all-new elegant design of HTC One and is carrying it forward with the new flagship. HTC One M8 carries the same amazing design of the older HTC One with the front-facing Boom Sound stereo speakers, which are said to be 25% louder than the older. The One (M8) sports a 5” screen with a resolution of 1920*1080 and a pixel density of 441 ppi. It is powered by the latest Snapdragon 801 chipset which has 4 Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.3GHz, Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB of RAM.
There are two storage options - 16GB and 32GB, both of which are expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. The device will be running on the latest android version KitKat with HTC’s Sense 6 UI on top of it. Many gestures are added to the phone so as to handle it without unlocking it with the hardware key. Such as, in landscape mode, pressing volume button launches camera or double taping the screen unlocks the phone. Also, while the phone is locked, swiping left on screen launches the widget panel and swiping right launches BlinkFeed.
The rear camera of the HTC One (M8) is the same 4MP camera seen in older HTC One with 1/3” sensor, 2 micron sized pixels, f/2.0 aperture and fast focus(0.3s). A second camera above the rear primary camera is present to gather depth information. The setup is called as Duo camera. The two independent lenses can calculate the relative distance of the subjects in an image. The dual camera setup brings new effects like selective focus and post-shot refocusing. The front camera is 5MP with wide angles and is an improvement over previous 2.1MP. The One (M8) has digital stabilization unlike optical stabilization in the previous One. A dual toned LED flash – one cold and one warm is provided with the rear camera which helps produce more accurate colour tones in low light conditions. In Zoe mode, the camera can take 20 full resolution images coupled with video in only 3 seconds.
The HTC One M8 is provided with 2600mAh battery and it features a newly introduced extreme power saving mode, which gives you up to 30 hours of running by using just 10% of the battery. The device will be available in following color options - gunmetal grey, glacial silver and amber gold for a price tag of $649. A developer edition of the phone is also available for the same price. The Google Play Edition of the phone will be costing $699.
The One (M8) will initially ship in selected markets and across 230 carriers in Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, China, Africa and the Middle East. This new flagship from HTC will compete against Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G2 and Sony Xperia Z2.
