    a docx. file is a mac version of MS-office. where as doc. file is a windows version of MS- office. but the features of these two versions are same and can be easily operated. sorry if anything wrong.

    .docx is the word file based on the xml format.

    XML is the laguage to store and pass data. So docx files use this format to store your data.

    I guess, we can also open docx files in winzip to actually see the xml files.
