Giza 3D Gives Immersive Experience Of Giza Pyramids - The Endangered Heritage

Giza 3D is a website offering immersive experience of the Egyptian wonder of Giza as a result of collaborative project from software design firm Dassault Systèmes, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Harvard University. This project lets us view a 3D virtual Giza Plateau that takes us inside a mastaba, finds and handles the remains found there by George Reisner's (the egyptologist's) expedition and gives us an instant interactive access to all the relevant information.

Egypt, the land of pyramids and mysteries has awed us all for centuries together. When we get a chance to experience the enormity of the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure or the Sphinx, we often get lost in the fantasy of it all and fail to see the other Egyptian marvels. Giza Plateau, the largest city of Africa, is one such treasure that is rich with lessons about Egyptian civilization - their architectural knowledge, their art and their writing. But, the heritage of Giza has been endangered in recent times due to urban sprawl and vandalism. And hence this project is a great attempt to revive one of the mankind's golden heritages.

The team behind Giza 3D took great efforts to reconstitute the Giza Necropolis and digitized the entire data. This project could now satisfy mere curiosity or encourage more demanding inquiries from researchers and academicians.
