Germany Makes Solar Power World Record With 14.7 TWh In 6 Months
While the world is busy discovering newer sources of renewable energy, Germany has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a world record for solar power consumption. Catering to about 4.5% of the country's power consumption, Germany has pulled a whooping 14.7 terawatt-hours of solar power in the first six months of 2012. That means the solar power usage in Germany has increased by 50% since last year. This record is making the country proud because it is a result of solar systems being installed rigorously across the country. The green engineers have put up 73,756 solar power systems in just four months along the countryside.

All these systems together produce an output of 2,328 megawatt power. Germany is fast taking pace in the race to become the third largest source of renewable energy in the world. So, it may even outperform the countries that have large amount of energy produced from wind power and biogas. We salute to the nobel efforts of Germany and wish that all countries across the globe will follow suit and take steps towards building a greener planet.
