Diesel Versions Of Etios And Etios Liva Launched!
Considering the response that the petrol versions met, carmaker Toyota Kirloskar Motor got going with the diesel versions of its entry-level sedan #-Link-Snipped-#, providing to the growing demand of diesel vehicles in this country. The alternative fuel options were offered after going through the customer feedback, said TKM Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh.

Both of them fall in the range of 5.54 lakh to 7.87 lakh (Delhi ex-showroom prices), and will feature an imported 1.4-litre D-4D common rail diesel (CRD) engine believed to yield an average of 23 to 59 km a liter and a maximum power output of 68 ps at the rate of 3,800 rpm. TKM Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa #-Link-Snipped-# that these models will feature the most advanced diesel technology, also being employed in other popular cars like Innova, Corolla Altis, Fortuner, Prado and LC 200, and is popular worldwide for its high quality, durability and reliability. The exterior of the car has got a distinctive Etios front grille and the roof has been squeezed sharply with a unique design rendering improved aerodynamics. The interiors of Etios feature a boot space of 595 litre capacity while Etios Liva has got a 251 litre capacity boot space.
So far, TKM has traded over 33,000 Etios cars, which also include 5,500 Liva hatchbacks. With the launch of the diesel versions, it plans to heighten trades of its Etios brand to nearly 63,000 by the end of 2011. Plan to increase the production by more than 50% at the Bangalore plant from 2013 onward is currently being considered. The number of dealerships in the country s also being revised to 175 from the present 163.
