    lan:
    local area network,which means tcp or ftp connection between the 2 or more than two computers
    wan:
    Wide area network,which means same mentioned connection between the 2 or more than two lan connection in the internet not intranet

    Wan - Computers connected across the world.

    You just forgot to specify the most important part of LAN. Its RANGE!
    Every network is formed by connecting two or more computers, but their range specifies the type of network it is.
