After Facebook's acquisition of WhatsApp, all have been waiting to know where exactly would they steer the instant messaging app from hereon. Well now, a report from Bloomberg suggests that Facebook might be seriously considering the idea of letting businesses contact their customers or end users via WhatsApp. That's a strong hint as to what Facebook has in mind for monetizing the free app.
The plan could be that marketing folks at companies could pay Facebook for being able to send messages to the potential customers. This B2C messaging service might not arrive anytime soon, but it could be on the cards in the long term. WhatsApp founders were apprehensive about displaying advertisements to their users right from the beginning. That's the reason why WhatsApp is widely loved and admired platform that users worldwide trust and like to use. It's clean and clutter-free.
We are not sure how well the users of WhatsApp will receive the idea of getting messages from businesses.
