Collar Device To Monitor Dog's Activity - Fujitsu Forum 2012

For those of us who love their pets, here's a good news. Fujitsu is showcasing a new service at the Fujitsu Forum 2012 that monitors your pet dog's activity levels and tracks data related to it. This will be done using a special device attached to the dog's collar. To prevent our pet from catching illnesses, we all know that it is vital that we monitor our pet's daily activities. Addressing this issue, Fujitsu now also plans to foray into pet health management by bringing forth a new cloud service that will use sensor data collected from this special device and use it for tracking the dog's activity.

This device can be tied to the dog's collar 24x7 since it has very little weight, small size and does not need much power to run. This device's sensors will store the data temporarily and the SmartCard system called FeliCa (quite popular in Japan) will collect the accumulated data and transfer it to the cloud. Users can then access it on their smartphones or PCs. Using the pet owner's web page (included in the system), users can track the transitions in their pet's health over time using graph representations. Here's how the device looks like on the dog:

There is no word from Fujitsu about the commercial release of the product or pricing details just yet, but how many of you pet owners would really want to buy it? We want to know, so leave your responses in the comments.
