Cappa Hydropower Generator Is Your Handy Power House

Cappa is your handy hydropower generator that uses the natural water currents like river and waterway to produce electricity. The unit has a special housing that increase the rate of energy flow through it and then convert it into electricity. There's a controller and a battery that together output 100 V AC at 50/60 Hz. Maker of Cappa, Japanese Ibasei says that this little power station can produce about 250 Wh with water flowing at 2 m/s. Considering the losses, an array of 5 such units can produce about 1 kW of energy which can be used during emergency situations. The company says that their product aims at local conversion and consumption of electricity.

Cappa is being tested and is getting ready for the markets in 2013. The price of the generator, Ibasei says will be equal to that of a compact car. Here's a video of Cappa -
