United States President, Barack Obama has set his brain on the 'Brain Initiative' and has allotted a massive $100 million fund for brain mapping. Obama and his team at the Whitehouse believes that a more advanced understanding & knowledge of the mind can help create next generation of hyper intelligent computers, fight complex disorders and of course create smarter weapons, systems and robots for defense. Obama tweets - "If we keep taking bold steps ... I'm confident America will continue to lead the world into that next frontier of human understanding." BRAIN is an acronym of 'Brain Research Through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies".

The $100 million is approximate estimation of the costs involved in enabling the scientists and researchers get a dynamic picture of the brain and understand how we think, learn and remember. This knowledge is expected to help scientists understand the mechanisms underlying Parkinson's disease, autism and develop newer treatments. It will also help in reducing the language barrier between computers and humans so that better human-machine interaction is possible. Obama administration also promises more high-tech jobs for the Americans in the longer run.

DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) representative has said that the research will enable the agency to develop better search-and-rescue machines.

It'll be interesting to follow how this project outputs important information. The brain, as you're all aware, is very complex and at present we haven't yet completely understood a fly brain - so the challenge is tremendous. We'd love to know your thoughts on this initiative by the White House.

great move.👍 why don't INDIA promotes more research work????? Why the premire institutes are not provided with enough funds for research??????
most importantly why willing & talented students are not given oppurtunities in research???
Are you sure? This action cannot be undone.
