8K Apple iMac - Because 5K Is So Yesterday!

Turns out that LG ain't very good at keeping secrets. The company seems to have leaked the closely guarded secret from the one infinite loop headquarters of Apple, totally ignoring the $50 million fine it may face. In a press release titled 'The World is Turning to 8K', to discuss its own upcoming 98" 8K television, LG mentioned that Apple is planning to release new iMac 8K super-high resolution in 2015. As of writing this article, LG has taken down that PR article from its website.

Be aware that Apple has not said anything about 8K iMac yet! Apple currently has the top-end iMac with a 5K resolution display (5120x2880 pixels). While this could be an oversight from the PR writers at LG, you should be aware that LG indeed is the display manufacturer for Apple's 5K iMac. What all this means is that Apple could actually be making a super high resolution machine.

Technically, the new DisplayPort 1.4a supports the resolution of 7680x4320 (8K), so we may not totally reject the possibility of 8K iMac. What's not known is what kind of graphics processor will Apple include in the machine if it decides on actually having the 8K display in iMac. Do let us know your thoughts.
