33KV transmission line surge protection

We have 9.8 KM line of 33 KV over head open conductor transmission line from core forest & hilly area. So on rainy season due to thundering & lighting line tripped with earth fault indication. So kindly request to you please suggest me any physical arrangement which reduce line break down.

    Line surge arresters may be applied in high lightning activity areas for the protection of compact lines that have a lower basic insulation level. The surge arrester energy duties were computed statistically.
