As someone whos’ been working remotely since 2009, I find it fascinating that Indian IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini and all the ‘big ones’ are asking employees to physically report to office.

The interesting part is - most of the employees simply travel to office just to swipe the card, spend a few hours and travel back. I find it utter waste of time, resources and productivity.

Some say it’s the real-estate sector that’s pressuring the companies to cancel remote work so that real-estate prices and the rental-income markets keep growing.

Some say that Indian managers like their egos massaged by having to actually ‘see’ big teams working under them.

There are several opinions. I want to hear from you what’s going on with the IT companies, and why are they simply not giving the employees an option to choose how they wish to work - from home or from office? Add your comment below.
