2012 Tesla Model S: Tesla Engineering Marvel

Tesla Model S 2010 is an engineering marvel. The company is a leader in quality and innovation in electric power vehicles, electric powertrain technology and battery engineering. Tesla's Model S incorporates modern approach to car design by the most promising automobile engineers. Cars development included alpha and beta testing phases that began in 2010. Tesla’s Model S Alpha builds have been designed, built, and assembled to a new standard of perfection.

The cars interiors are specious and designed for comfortable seating of 7 (5 adults + 2 children). It has more cargo space than most of the sedans. The car features smooth & uninterrupted acceleration and driver gets feedback and system information within arm's reach. The 17 inch touchscreen panel with inbuilt 3G capability takes care of information & feedback  systems along with your entertainment. It lets you enjoy radio, GPS, Internet and even the nearby restaurants information. Tesla uses chrome-free vegetable tanned Italian leather on interior, and 100 percent recycled PET carpeting from Futuris.

The car comes in three variants to suit your driving needs: 160, 230 and 300 miles per charge. The best part is that you can plug the car to any charging outlet anywhere in the world, just like Tela's Roadseter. Battery innovations by Tesla allows this car to be fully charged within 45 minutes.

The car delivers impressive performance and goes 0 - 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds. The top speed of the car is limited to 120 mph, which is again top class in battery powered vehicles. This performance is made possible by a liquid-cooled, floor-mounted battery pack and single-speed gearbox. Tesla engineers have worked on the car dynamics and aluminum body keeps the weight of the car under control (3,825 pound).  The braking distance of the car is 135 feet at 60 mph.

Through the following videos, Tesla's VP of Vehicle Engineering, Mr. Peter Rawlinson talks about the Tesla Model S and the design and engineering innovations Tesla put into it. Worth the watch -
