Xtrac Continues Winning Streak With Epicor®

Epicor ERP Solution Enabling Quicker Sales Responses and Providing More Accurate Lead Times
Epicor Software Corporation today announced that Xtrac has implemented and gone live with the Epicor enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Xtrac provides a unique blend of design, engineering and manufacturing to the world's top motorsport teams in the toughest arena's including Formula One, World Rally, and Indy Racing League. The company has realised immediate benefits from Epicor, including improved response time to sales enquiries and more accurate production lead time estimations.
Established for 25 years, virtually all of the world’s top motorsport teams rely on Xtrac’s expertise. Their approach of complete confidentiality and attention to detail, combined with a forward thinking philosophy, consistently delivers solutions to world champion teams. As part of their continuous improvement policy they decided to update their ERP system in 2008 because their existing solution was out of date and it had reached its ceiling for further developments.
“We also found that there was a strong desire from the business to consolidate the collection of existing systems and access databases into one central application,” said Ross Brumwell, Implementation Project Manager for Xtrac. “We chose Epicor not only because of the system functionality and the company’s excellent pedigree, but also because they are a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. This assured us that our solution would be built on the latest technology and able to communicate with some of the other systems we run alongside, such as our Unigraphics CAD software.”
Brumwell said that the company has already seen benefits after the implementation, “With Epicor we now run a single system for both our UK and US operations which means that we have significantly reduced the number of peripheral systems we use. We have also been able to introduce full CRM functionality and bills of materials are automatically populated, something that in the past we had to do manually, sometimes taking us a number of days to complete.”
He continued, “The main benefits we are seeing so far relate to additional visibility and traceability associated with having all of the information on one system. For example, because of the new CRM system we can respond to sales enquiries much quicker than before, and with the new ERP functionality in place we can provide more accurate lead times to customers. However, it’s still early days and we are still developing reports and refining processes to try to establish further efficiency gains wherever possible.”
With several motorsport organisations now running Epicor, the company has in-depth understanding of the industry’s cutting-edge, rapid production culture. “Providing ERP support within such a fast moving and agile industry puts extremely high pressure not just on the system to deliver expectations, but also on the consultants and support people who have to be knowledgeable and flexible to build the best solution,” said James Norwood, vice president, product marketing for Epicor. “With a wide range of functionality, modern technology, a low total cost of ownership, and world class support, Epicor is a natural choice for any motorsport organisation that is looking to enhance their operations.”
