Xiaomi all set to launch 'Desh Ka Smartphone' - A worthy competitor to Jio feature phone?

'Desh Ka Smartphone' - A new phone for Bharat is coming soon! Retweet and help spread the word - these are the exact words tweeted by Manu Kumar Jain, head of Xiaomi India on Thursday morning. No doubt Xiaomi is all set to launch a budget segment smartphone to compete with the likes of Jio and Bharat phones. Mainly targeted for the rural users, the Desh ka Smartphone will make its debut in India on November 30th, 2017. Not only the device will be made available online but to increase its reach it will also be found in all the offline stores after its launch. Though nothing as of now is known about the price and the specification of the device, it is sure that more information will be revealed within this week.

Xiaomi has recently inaugurated its Noida based manufacturing facility and has also launched the two new Mi 2i power banks in India. With this new budget smartphone, Xiaomi is aiming to capture all the segments of the smartphone market in India. Airtel and Karbonn have joined hands to offer Karbonn A40 Indian at a price of Rs 1,333 which is one of the cheapest 4G smartphones available in the country. Jio and Bharat 1 both are feature phones and costs Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,200 respectively. There are other variants of Bharat phones that comes with touch screen and 4G facility, however, they cost way more than 2.5k. The price of the Xiaomi's upcoming phone will be a huge factor and it will be really interesting to see what Xiaomi manages to offer at such a competitive price. There is also a speculation that the upcoming device will be a new variant of the Redmi series.

Desh-Ka-Smartphone - Xiaomi-Teaser

Till date, only Redmi 4A is the cheapest smartphone offered by Xiaomi at a price of Rs 5,999. The teaser 'Desh Ka Smartphone' clearly indicates that the new device will be a smartphone and if offered at a competitive price with decent hardware, this unknown device will outnumber the sales of Jio and Bharat phones in India.
