World Engineers' Convention 2011 WEC, Geneva: September 4-9 2011

Meet engineers, policy-makers, representatives of research and industry from all over the world and discuss one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century, the energy challenge.

World Engineers' Convention or WEC 2011 will be an unforgettable and most valuable experience both from a professional as well a private perspective. Who ever attends will return with innovative and inspiring ideas for his business as well as new confidence in a future empowered by the engineers of tomorrow’s world.

Call for Papers: Subjects:

The core topic of the congress is energy in its broadest sense: “Engineers Power the World – Facing the Global Energy Challenge”. Plenary and parallel sessions will be grouped along the following themes:

(1) Global challenges
(2) Education in engineering
(3) Mobility and transport
(4) Urban development and buildings
(5) Energy conversion and distribution
(6) Renewable energy and storage
(7) Rational end use and large consumers

These themes will be treated according to three sets of approaches:

(a) Engineering and technology
(b) Systemic issues (including economics, environment, life-cycle considerations)
(c) Socio-political issues (including policies, public information and debate)

Proposed papers are expected to deal with one of the above themes and include elements of at least two of the above approaches (e.g. a paper dealing with automotive technology, including a well-to-wheel approach, would be labelled 3ab). Papers should ideally highlight best practice and/or future promising solutions for a sustainable use of energy. Fundamental research that is far from transfer into practice will not be discussed at WEC 2011.

Deadline for abstract submissions extended to January 15, 2011
