working model of electric motor which can lift atleast 1 kg of weight

please tell me how should i construct an electric motor which can lift 1 kg of weight. Actually i am thinking of making a working model of panama canal in electrical engineering project, though it is a mixture of civil and electrical skills but i think i can make it. basically i wanna know is that how can i lift a weight of 1 kg with the help of electric motor and that electric motor should be constructed by me. IN short how should i construct an electric motor which can lift 1 kg of weight. Plz sir tell me what material i require and how to construct it(plz tell me almost all possible details of construction).. thanking u in anticipation....
