And here the point refers to the tip of the drill bit not the cutting edge. It may be the nomenclature. For slotting operation, the tool has two cutting point and cutting edge. this tool cannot be called as single point cutting tool.Are you sure? This action cannot be undone. -

In the early days of mech engineering many terms were loosely used. As Tamilazhagan says above it is more a convention than actual engineering definition.
