  • Weak in coding; should I get into software testing?

    hi kaustubh katdare this is chandrakanth(2014 passout, and ,my stream is instrumentation tech). I was very much interested in coding but the problem is with my stream backgroud. I did my course too in core java, j2ee. Later on I got placed in a company as a Android developer. I'm satisfied with my job but the thing is I feel I'm weak in coding, and im unable to get the concepts to. So I have a plan of getting into TESTING domain. The problem is I'm confused whether to continue with the development or to get into testing. So plz help me out with this problem. Thanks in advance

    If you are really interested in coding, you need to spend time in making yourself awesome in coding. As an Android developer, you already are into programming and since your interest and job are in sync, all you need to do is spend more time honing your coding / programming skills. It'll get better over time.

    If you are not interested in coding, you will find it very difficult to understand concepts. Being weak in coding should NOT and NEVER be the reason to opt for testing. Ask yourself, what will you do if you find out that you are not interested in testing either?

    Spend some time understanding the career you'd get as a software testing engineer. Ask questions to those who're working in the domain (and CrazyEngineers is a great place to ask such questions). Find out whether software testing domain really offers you the kind of job you'd like to do and make your career in.
