VLC has updated its software to 2.0.2 for Windows and OSX, but the real breaking news here is the addition of support for Retina Displays. For those who have a brand new Macbook Pro, VLC 2.0.2 is the one app you ought to have to enjoy the luxury of an enhanced screen. Retina Display's core functionality lies in projecting videos and images at a higher quality, but it is capable of producing subtitles and any other overlays for a particular file at better resolution as well, a feature that would be of great advantage to VLC 2.0.2 and circuitously, the OSX users.

A number of bugs have been addressed, Blu-ray playback has been improved and issues regarding rotating, cropping and zooming with video have been taken care of. VLC 2.0.2 will also see advanced support for compressed file formats and H.264 webcam output. HTTP access through proxy and issues concerning certain file types in previous versions have also been fixed.

Users would also be pleased to know that Audacity, the free, cross platform audio editing tool is also out with its latest version and is known to have fixed a number of issues. The feature-packed VLC 2.0.2, specifically speaking for OSX, makes it one of the most lucrative media players available in the market right now.
