TVS APACHE RTR ABS - The Beast Has Arrived

The Indian bikers have a reason to cheer! TVS has launched the first ABS enabled bike in India. TVS has followed the footsteps of foreign bike manufactures and heeded to European Union’s call to make ABS compulsory for bikes above 125 cc from 2017. [IMG]Apache RTR ABS comes fully prepared to tackle Indian roads. The Anti Braking System (ABS) is commonplace in cars in India. With the advent of this safety feature in bikes, road accidents are surely going to reduce. The ABS is developed by TVS in collaboration with German component supplier Continental. The ABS system is specially designed for Indian system by keeping in view that the Indian motorbikes are lighter and less compact than their foreign cousins.

ABS features:

    [*]Weight: 1.2 kg
[*]Two small discs mounted onto both wheels of the motorcycle with the brake disc.
[*]Each disc connected to two non magnetic sensors
[*]HECU (Hydraulic and Electronic Control Unit), mounted behind engine. Receives pulses from sensors every 1 millisecond to monitor wheel speed.
[*]Pump housed in HECU which regulates oil pressure acting on calipers acting on both ends.

When there is a sudden drop in the wheel speed during braking, HECU regulates brake pressure through its digital valves to avoid wheel lock-up. The information is given to the control unit from the signals of the front wheel. Now the best part is that you can control this beast by just by a push button on dashboard.LED on the dashboard tells the biker when he is backed up by the ABS or not.
