Researchers in association with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have been fabricated nanochannels which has 2 nanometers (2-nm) in size using standard semiconductor manufacturing processes. Already they have used these nanochannels to discover that fluid mechanics for passages this small shows significant change from bulk-sized channels and from channels which is 10 nm in size.
