This IR Device Finds & Projects Your Veins In Real Time
The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is using this IR device to study whether quickly locating the spot will result into reduced anxiety among the first time blood donors. The pilot will be conducted on about 300 first time blood donors and 600 returning donors (age: 18-30).
The infra-red vein visualization device works by moving the source over the naturally deoxygenated hemoglobin in the body. The hemoglobin absorbs the IR light and the veins thus show up in glowing green light. It's advised that you do not look directly at the light and the machines are otherwise completely safe. We've a demo video that shows it all in action. Check it out -
