Who'd ever thought that I would see this day Where I would see my ghetto life fade away 'Cause I was lost and couldn't find a way And now I look forward to everyday (Welcome to my sunny day)
Block, don't stop, always stayed hot No matter how the seasons got I still remember when they took me away Kept it on lock, then I got caught I realized I had to stop Then I took the time to explore a better way
Searched high and low, so close yet so far to go I just know there's a sunny day
Who'd ever thought that I would see this day Where I would see my ghetto life fade away 'Cause I was lost and couldn't find a way And now I look forward to everyday
Welcome to my sunny day, my sunny day Everyday a better day Welcome to my sunny day, my sunny day Everyday a better day Welcome to my sunny day
Been a long day, on my way To my holy place to pray Give thanks for every blessing given to me I know there's more to see, more to me No more living in misery 'Cause this is how I visioned life to be
Searched high and low, so close yet so far to go I just know there's a sunny day
Who'd ever thought that I would see this day Where I would see my ghetto life fade away 'Cause I was lost and couldn't find a way And now I look forward to every day
Welcome to my sunny day, my sunny day Everyday a better day Welcome to my sunny day, my sunny day Everyday a better day Welcome to my sunny day
I'm yet to develop an ear for the Indian classical music. For most of us, listening to Music has become a secondary thing which's often done in addition to a primary activity. Example: Listening to music while driving a car.
Indian classical music (or any music for that matter), demands primary attention. Am I right?

Yes and no. If one is new to it, it does require primary attention. My great grand father was a great classical music lover (Carnatic, Hindustani and Western). None of us received any formal training. But seemed to have absorbed it by a sort of osmosis from birth.
While one can sit immersed in classical music as a dedicated activity, it is entirely feasible to have this playing in the background, while busy at work, which is what I do always.
(As an aside, a Punaiker scientist (now in UK) had come for a discussion this morning as this was playing on my computer. He was thrilled no end at the Marathi abhang that was his favourite too.)
Well, I'm in no position to argue on that because what you said sounds right. I'm only concerned about the whole activity of listening to music which's taken a secondary place. Gone are the days when people would dedicate time to listen to music and enjoy what the creators wanted people to enjoy.
I had a long discussion on this topic with my guitar teacher. He actually guided me through the process of listening to music. I mean, there are several interesting things that go unnoticed unless a song is listened with all the attention.

I totally agree. But when a particular piece of music , which has become a part of oneself is playing, it can be enjoyed subliminally in the background. I only play familiar music at work. A new one certainly distracts attention and is a detriment to work.
After long time I am listening a song so many times repeatedly.
