We have always considered Kinect For Windows Arrives In India, Priced at Rs.19,990 For Developers to be the gold standards when it comes to gesture control, but as you might be aware it uses an infrared sensor coupled with the camera to detect depth. So to eliminate the need for extra hardware, eyeSight Technologies have developed and launched gesture control solution can detect depth and simulate 3D tracking using only a single standard camera, without the need for additional hardware. The gesture recognition by this software will however be limited to hand and figure gestures only, so don’t expect to play full body gesture games with it anytime soon. But here is the most important thought, since it’s just the software and software only people or to be precise developers do not have to invest on obtaining expensive hardware. Further existing consumer devices like PCs, smartphones and tablets etc who have standard cameras present in them can accept gesture control with the help applications developed by this software.

eyeSight

The company has put up a demonstration of the technology in the following video that shows a person navigating in Google Earth by simply hovering her hand in front of the computer.

Previous gesture recognition technologies developed by eyeSight Technologies have already been implemented in Lenovo Yoga Ultrabooks and AMD APUs and with the launch of this software the company hopes to gain a larger consumer base.
