Its purpose was to inform about directions and weather to its wearer over a heads up display. Years later Samsung seems to have improved this concept by adding newer features with a twist. Meet, the Smart Windshield from Samsung, a windshield that can be attached to or bikes and scooters to display information from your smartphone. The product is still in the concept stage which means it has not been prototyped and nor it is going on production or sale any time soon but Samsung gave us a sneak peek into what it will look like and work through a short video on its Italian YouTube channel.
As you may know Italy loves its scooters and that is why Samsung has pitched this idea to this country. The Smart Windshield can be attached to any bike or scooter. It has a small projector that can display images on to a glass screen which is located just above your bike’s speedometer. The Smart Windshield hooks up to your smartphone with the help of Wi-Fi. You need to install the companion app on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone of course to make it work. Once you are connected, the glass display on the Smart Windshield displays GPS navigation information which you can follow on a journey. The Smart Windshield also enables you to know who is calling and lets you send a preset text to know that you are riding or you can decide to stop and answer. You can also check your text messages, emails and WhatsApp conversations.
While Samsung ends the promotional video above by saying that you no longer have to take out your smartphone and just look ahead on to the Smart Windshield for the same we are a bit concerned.
