Samsung NC215S Is Solar Powered Netbook

Samsung NC215S is Samsung's solar powered netbook ready to make an entry in the US & Russian markets. #-Link-Snipped-# has officially declared that the netbook will start rolling out in both markets in August 2011 and the price of the netbook is expected to be around $300 in US & $500 in Russia. As you can notice in the following pic that NC215S features a solar panel located on the lid. The company claims that the device requires 2 hours of exposure to sunlight enables it to function for 1 hour. However, the battery life is expected to be at 14.5 hours.

Inside its shell, Samsung NC215S features a 6-cell battery with PowerPlus Technology which ensures longer operation time. We don't expect consumers to use the device indoors and makes an ideal choice for college students who can use it on the campus. Considering laptop's use in sunlight, Samsung has provisioned 300 cd/m2 bright, anti-reflective coating which is capable of rendering colorful images even in the bright light. The netbook is also equipped with Samsung's "hybrid sleep mode" which ensure quicker restart times so that the user can get down to business in a jiffy.

Rest of the hardware includes either dual-core Intel Atom N570 or single-core Intel Atom N455 CPU which functions along with an integrated Intel GMA 3150 GPU. One GB of DDR3 RAM module ensures faster device response and works perfectly with 250 & 320 GB hard drives. USB 2.0 port doubles as a charging port.
