Samsung Gear 2 And Gear 2 Neo Launched With Added Features
South Korean Electronics giant Samsung today introduced the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. These new versions of Gear are in many terms different than the previous ones. The new design of the smart watches is stylish and offers increased connectivity, customization and control. It is also lighter and thinner than the original. We already knew that the Gear 2 will be running on Tizen OS, instead of Android. You can refer to the article Samsung's Galaxy Gear 2.0 To Run On Tizen. And as it is no longer running on Android, the name of the smart watches wonât be bearing Galaxy as a prefix.
Gear 2
The Gear 2 features 1.63â Super AMOLED display of 320*320 screen resolution with 1 GHz dual-core processor. It includes some additional sensors like heart rate monitor, pedometer and an infrared port. Internal storage is 4GB and 512MB of RAM. Gear 2 is also equipped with a 2MP autofocus camera which can take full HD images and can record 720p videos @30fps. Battery provided is of 300mAh and can last for 2-3 days on typical use and up to 6 days on low usage. As the watches are running on Tizen OS, battery backup has been beefed up almost twice as that of previous Galaxy Gear.
Gear 2 Neo
Gear 2 Neo has the same specs as that of Gear 2, but lacks camera. Both the smart watches have IP67 dust and water resistance certification.Gear 2 will be available in Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange colors whereas Gear 2 Neo will be available in Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange colors. The straps are also changeable.
Both the watches are expected to be available globally from April. Pricing has not been disclosed by Samsung as of now.
